Changing an image's dimensions in pixels or percentage

Enter the exact width and height you need in pixels, there's no percentage slider or centimetre/inch unit switcher, just plain pixel values. You can lock the aspect ratio so the image doesn't stretch, or unlock it for a custom crop-like resize. The tool loads JPEG, PNG, and WebP files. The resized image downloads as JPEG if you uploaded a JPEG, or as PNG for anything else, there's no separate output-format selector. It's used when the physical size of the picture needs to match a specific requirement, like a thumbnail, a social media post template, or a web banner.

Common dimension requirements

Tip: When resizing for print, use pixels per inch (DPI) as a reference. This tool changes pixel dimensions, not DPI. If you need to set DPI for printing, pair it with the DPI changer tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does resizing reduce file size?

Usually yes. Fewer pixels mean less data. But if you're enlarging, the file might increase and quality can degrade. For reducing file size without changing dimensions, use the image compressor.

Can I resize a batch of images at once?

No, this tool works on one image at a time. For batch resizing, you'd need desktop software like IrfanView or Photoshop.

Can I resize by percentage or centimetres instead of pixels?

Not directly, only exact pixel width/height fields are available, there's no percentage slider or cm/inch unit switcher. To scale by a percentage, work out the target pixel values yourself first (e.g., 50% of 1200×800 is 600×400) and type those in.

What file format does the download use?

It follows your upload: a JPEG in gives you a JPEG out, anything else (PNG, WebP, GIF, etc.) downloads as PNG. There's no separate dropdown to pick a different output format.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API, so your photos never leave your device.

Can I resize an image in KB as well as in pixels?

This one works in pixels, and the quality slider changes file size as a side effect rather than to a set figure. If a form demands an exact KB number, use Compress Image to KB to come down or Increase Image Size in KB to go up.
