Image Converter

Convert PNG ↔ JPG ↔ WebP right in your browser.

Drag & drop an image, or click to browse

Convert an image from one format to another

Drag in a file and choose the output format from the dropdown: PNG, JPEG, or WebP, those are the three formats currently offered. The converter changes the format while keeping the visual content as close as possible. JPEG to PNG will preserve quality but increase file size. PNG to JPEG will lose transparency and create a white background. WebP is the modern web format that offers smaller sizes, but not every application supports it yet. There's no preview before downloading, so for a transparent PNG converting to JPEG, download and open the file to confirm the white background looks right.

When format switching is necessary

Tip: If you're converting a photo from HEIC (iPhone), use the dedicated HEIC to JPG converter, which is optimised for that specific conversion and handles the colour profile better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose quality converting between formats?

Yes, if converting to a lossy format like JPEG. PNG to PNG is lossless. JPEG to PNG won't regain lost quality. Each conversion from lossy to lossy degrades the image a bit.

Can I convert an image to SVG?

No, SVG is a vector format built from paths, not pixels. Converting a raster image to SVG requires tracing, which this tool doesn't do.

What output formats are available?

Only three: PNG, JPEG, and WebP, in the "Convert to" dropdown. Other formats like BMP, GIF, or TIFF aren't offered as output options.

Is there a preview before I download?

No. The tool converts and gives you a Download button with a short status message, there's no on-page preview image. Download the file to check the result, especially for a PNG-to-JPEG conversion where transparency gets flattened to white.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API, so your images never leave your device.
