Rotate or mirror an image

Drop an image and use the buttons to rotate it 90 degrees left or right, or 180 degrees. You can also flip it horizontally (mirror) or vertically (upside down). A preview shows the result in real time, and you can apply multiple rotations and flips until the image is oriented correctly. It's the digital equivalent of turning a physical photo around, but without losing quality. Every action is reversible as long as you haven't downloaded the final version, just hit the opposite button.

Why images come out sideways

• Phone cameras sometimes embed an orientation tag instead of rotating the actual pixels. When you upload the photo to a portal that ignores the tag, it appears rotated. This tool fixes the actual pixels so the orientation is baked in.
• Scanning a document and placing it face-down on the scanner results in a flipped image. Flip it horizontally to correct.
• A selfie camera often mirrors the image. If you want the un-mirrored version (text readable, parting on the correct side), flip it horizontally.

Tip: If you're correcting a photo that looks correct on your phone but wrong on the web, it's the EXIF orientation tag. Rotating here and saving will strip that tag and make the rotation permanent.

Does rotating affect image quality?

Rotating by 90, 180, or 270 degrees is lossless for JPEG if the dimensions are divisible by the block size (usually 8 or 16 pixels). The tool handles it as well as possible. Repeated rotations may cause slight degradation in lossy formats.

Can I rotate by a custom angle like 45 degrees?

No, this tool only does exact 90-degree rotations and flips. For arbitrary angles, you'd need an editor like Photoshop or an image editor with a free rotate tool.

Is my image uploaded to a server to rotate or flip it?

No, everything happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device.

Can I combine a rotation and a flip on the same image?

Yes, you can click multiple buttons in sequence, for example rotate 90 degrees and then flip horizontally, and each action applies on top of the previous one before you download.
