How to Use SGPA Calculator

1. Add subjects for a semester – click “Add Subject” to create rows. For each subject, select a grade (O/A+/A/B+/B/C/P/F) or type a custom grade point, then enter the credits.
2. Calculate SGPA – click “Calculate SGPA”. The tool computes Σ(grade point × credits) ÷ Σ(credits) and shows the semester GPA.
3. Add more semesters for CGPA – in the CGPA panel, add SGPA values for each completed semester, with optional semester‑wise credits.
4. Calculate CGPA – click “Calculate CGPA” to get the weighted average across all semesters. The note reminds you that different universities use different conversion formulas.

What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is the weighted average for a single semester. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the weighted average of all SGPAs across completed semesters. This calculator handles both.

Does this calculator follow the exact formula of my university?

It uses the standard formula: SGPA = Σ(grade point × credits) ÷ Σ(credits). Most Indian universities (VTU, JNTU, SPPU, Mumbai University) use this basic formula. For converting CGPA to percentage, each university has its own multiplier – use our Percentage to CGPA tool for that.

What if a subject has a lab component with separate credits?
