How to Use Hindi Typing Test
- Choose a timer – select 1, 3, or 5 minutes from the dropdown. A random Hindi paragraph appears for you to type.
- Enable Phonetic Assist if needed – tick the checkbox to type in Hinglish (Roman letters) and have it automatically converted to Devanagari as you type. This is helpful if you don't have a Hindi keyboard installed.
- Type the paragraph exactly as shown – focus on accuracy first. The timer starts when you click "Start Test" and counts down. The remaining time is displayed prominently.
- View your results – when the timer ends, the tool shows your WPM (Words Per Minute), accuracy percentage, and highlights mismatched words. Click "Retry" to take another test with a new paragraph.
Benefits of Hindi Typing Test
- Practice for government job typing exams (SSC CHSL, CRPF, CISF, state exams) that require 25–30 WPM in Hindi on KrutiDev or Mangal font.
- Phonetic Assist mode lets you practice even without a Hindi keyboard – type in Hinglish and the tool converts it to Devanagari using the same engine as our Hinglish to Hindi tool.
- 10+ different Hindi paragraphs rotate randomly, so you don't memorise the text and get a fresh challenge each time.
- WPM and accuracy stats help you track improvement over time – the standard government exam metric (5 keystrokes = 1 word) is used.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Phonetic Assist mode allowed in actual government typing exams?
No. Government exams require you to type directly in KrutiDev or Mangal font using the Inscript or Remington keyboard layout. The Phonetic Assist is a practice aid to help beginners get comfortable with Hindi typing, but you should eventually practice on the actual exam keyboard layout.
How is WPM calculated in this test?
WPM (Words Per Minute) is calculated as the total number of correctly typed words divided by the test duration in minutes. One "word" is counted as any sequence of characters separated by spaces. This matches the standard method used by SSC and other exam bodies.
Can I take the test on mobile?
The test is designed for a physical keyboard. Mobile touchscreen typing is not suitable for government exam preparation. For best results, use a desktop or laptop with a physical keyboard.
Is Hindi Typing Test free and private?
Yes — it is 100% free, needs no sign‑up, and everything runs in your browser; your data never leaves your device.
